The Time is Right

The curatorial inspiration for the first ever Jeddah Photo Festival, The Time is Right was to examine the different ways of seeing and being in the world, looking at and raising awareness of the fragile and delicate balance required for coexistence with nature.

 

The exhibition included many artists and photographers from Saudi Arabia, Osama Esid, Manal AlDowayan, Moath Alofi, Fahad bin Naif, Marwah AlMugait, Mohamad Alfaraj, alongside the Open Call shortlisted photographers all drawn from the KSA.

 

An initiative by the Museums Commission to nurture and encourage photographic talent in the region, resulted in 4 new names, Amira Nazer, Elham Dawsari, Helmy Alsagaff and Aljohara Jeje.

 

The integration of the established and famous Saudi photographers and of these emerging photographers, was  part of the larger exhibition at the ATHR Gallery including Yan Wang Preston, Laura El -Tantawy Sara Naim, Monica Alcazar Duarte, Awoiska van der Molen, Lorenzo Vitturi, Andy Goldsworthy, Susan Derges and Edward Burtynsky.

 

The exhibition was commissioned by SAC and sponsored by the Museums Commission under the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
